Celebrating Easter

Easter is celebrated on a different date than in most of the Western World, because a different calendar is used to figure out the date. This year we were just a week behind everyone. But that is not the point of this post. I wanted to share some of the blessings that God gave us this Easter.

Two of UEC’s patrons came to our church for the first time. One girl really enjoyed the service and continues to come – we praise God for her.

017 The second blessing was bread. Traditionally Ukrainians bake special kind of bread for Easter – it’s very sweet and tastes more like cake. Several UEC patrons got together on the night before Easter and made a lot of bread to share with everyone – there was enough to treat Nivky church members and UEC patrons. You never know how much of a blessing it can be to someone until after you do it. One of the ladies (pictured to the left), who came to the UEC was very grateful. She was hungry and didn’t have any food with her as she studied at the library. That’s what we are all about – feeding the hungry with food – both spiritual and physical. Thank you, everyone for cooking and sharing it with others.
